The Mesa neighborhood is comprised of four geographic sections: East Alta Mesa, West Alta Mesa, East Baja Mesa, and West Baja Mesa. Cliff Drive is the north/south divide and Meigs Road is the divide between East and West Mesa. These areas are comprised of mostly single-family homes with a few parcels of multi-family housing, and some Affordable housing.
The Mesa includes a number of parks with Shoreline Park being the largest, La Mesa Park, Escondido Park, Honda Valley Park, Douglas Family Preserve on the far west side and Hilda Ray Park, being the smallest tucked into the hills.
The Santa Barbara City College is located in East Baja Mesa. There is a handy commercial zone around the Meigs / Cliff Drive intersection to serve the Mesa residential areas.
